My First Pair Of Sunglasses In Years!

20180404_183428.jpg I started wearing glasses full time 5 or 6 years ago.  Up to that point, if the sun even thought about shining, I had my sunglasses on.  I was NEVER without them, they were my one constant accessory.  I had quite a collection I was quite proud of.  Then my eyes got bad enough that I needed glasses full time, and prescription shades were just not in the budget.  So I learned to live without sunglasses, though I missed them every time the evil sun shined in my eyeballs.

A few weeks ago I was reading the Frugalwoods blog and Mrs. Frugalwoods mentioned that Mr. Frugalwoods had just ordered some new glasses, and that he had gotten them from Eye Buy Direct.  She said he loved the glasses and that they were extremely affordable.  I decided to check out the website for myself, and lo, they WERE extremely affordable.  So much so, in fact, that I was able to get this pair for $47.  That is less than I normally pay for glasses WITH INSURANCE.  Eye Buy Direct doesn’t accept insurance, so it is out of pocket, but it was still less than I normally pay for my regular glasses every year with my insurance.  I was super jazzed.

20180404_212144.jpgI placed the order and started my wait.  The shipping was definitely not lightening fast, it took about 11 days to get here.  That’s not SLOW, but I’m used to 1 hr glasses and 2 day Amazon Prime, so it felt pretty slow.  Still, when they did get here I decided it was totally worth it.  I’m enamored with my new glasses and so happy to have some again!  Normally I’m not a fan of the sun, but now that I have some new shades… bring it on, Mama Nature!

Our day was otherwise frugal as well.  We had to go to the bank and deposit some money for rent, and went to the store to get some cases of diet ginger ale {the only thing we get at this store is our soda.  They have generic diet ginger ale and NO ONE else does.}  We didn’t get any fast food while we were out, and instead came home and had a super frugal dinner of cheesy Greek beans and rice with steamed veggies.

And now we are off to root around in the pantry and see what we can find to make for dinners next week.  Hope ya’ll had a Happy Hump Day!

  1. My husband and I tried online glasses. I bought my 3 pair from Zenni, they were all great deals and I like them all. I also get compliments on them all the time.
Husband has a complicated, very expensive prescription and could only find them at gogglesusa. He really likes 2 of his pairs but 1 pair doesn’t fit like he likes. Even with 1 less than perfect, they were still a huge bargain.
    Enjoy your new eyes 👀
